The Coming of Jesus Christ (Epiphany Vs Perusia)
The Coming of Jesus Christ (Epiphany Vs Perusia)
There are 2 different ways that Jesus comes to the earth. Using the Greek words epiphany or shining forth and persusia that actual showing up of Jesus (in the flesh).
The Epiphany of Christ
G2015
ἐπιφάνεια epiphaneia ep-if-an'-i-ah
From G2016; a manifestation, that is, (specifically) the advent of Christ (past or future): - appearing, brightness.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
1 Timothy 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearingof our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Timothy 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearingof our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearingand his kingdom;
2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
G3952
παρουσία parousia par-oo-see'-ah
From the present participle of G3918; a being near, that is, advent (often, return; specifically of Christ to punish Jerusalem, or finally the wicked); (by implication) physical aspect: - coming, presence.
James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the comingof the Lord draweth nigh.
2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

Are you saying that epiphany and parousia are two aspects of the same event, or two separate events?

Re: The Coming of Jesus Christ (Epiphany Vs Perusia)
Ian,
In this study I try to show that Epiphany and Perusia are 2 totally different concepts.
One event in which Jesus shows up physically on the earth and Possibly several instances in which Jesus was manifested through His saints all throughout History and yet to come.
Peace

Hi James,
Don't mind me saying, but in all the texts you quoted above, His appearing and His coming are synonyms.
Here, His coming equals His appearing:
Here, His appearing equals His coming:
So, what i'm asking, is, Is there an event/text in scripture where Jesus' coming and appearing are two separate events? That is, He comes but doesn't appear, or appears but doesn't come?
